Are you feeling like your back is against the wall, and everyone is pulling at you from every angle? Your day consists of getting the children ready for school, going to work all day, rushing to your daughter’s game after work, grabbing some dinner for the family, making sure everyone gets their shower, briefly sharing about your day, taking care of your spouse, and finally… your “me” time begins!!! You have so much to do, and the deadlines are upon you to the point you feel as though you are drowning. If you or someone you know is experiencing this madness, keep reading.

I experienced a similar situation with my friend yesterday. She was up against a very important deadline, and the process to complete the information changed; which caused a total interruption in her time schedule. She sent me a text asking, “what time do you get off, I need HELP!!!” I knew it had to be a 911 for her, and I reached out to her immediately.

Long story short we worked through the new process, and met the deadline by a few hours. I received a text later thanking me for coming to her rescue, because she was drowning.

I told her that she was never drowning. She was swimming in shallow water the entire time, and all she needed to do was Just Stand Up.

The pressure of meeting the deadline appeared to have rip currents in the water that was taking her under. The stress level of waiting until the last day appeared to have her head bobbing under the water. All she needed to do was Just Stand Up.

Here Are 5 Ways To Avoid Drowning:

1. Separate your feelings from reality – it’s not what it appears to be.

2. Take a deep breath – inhale…hold it for a minute…then exhale slowly.

3. Ask for help – never feel like you have to do it all alone.

4. Never give up – push through the process at all costs.

5. Don’t panic – know that you are taller than the water if you just stand up.

Next time that you are facing a crisis and feel as though you are literally drowning, remember you’re not drowning at all. You just need to stand up!!! It is when you stand up that you will realize that the water is shallow, and you only need to stand!!! Just Stand Up!!!
