Today has been one of those days that I wanted to throw in the towel, and let people make their own mistakes. I spend countless hours helping them, and offering advice, only to find that some people are just plain ole’ hard headed.

It’s draining to continuously deal with the same people, with the same issues, just on a different day. But I took a step back and reflected on the fact that no matter how crazy some people may act, no matter how inappropriate some people may respond, no matter how frustrating it can sometimes become, They Still Need Us!!!

It is difficult for some people to accept help, and they sabotage what could be a great relationship rejecting good help. People reject your help when they do the exact opposite of what they should do, even though they know they are making a grave mistake.

But don’t allow your frustration to control your decision and give up on them, because They Still Need Us!!!

My students are preparing for their end of the year events, to include their 8th grade dance and end of year assessments. We have worked so hard to protect them, and help to keep them on the right track. We have encouraged the students to stay focused on their goals, but there are a few that are pushing me to the limit. But guess what? With only 14 days of school remaining, we still can’t give up on them, because They Still Need Us!!!

Here are 8 tidbits to remind you that people still need us:

Hold them accountable for their actions – but do it in love

Embrace the differences in other people – everyone has a different need.

Love them unconditionally – love helps us forgive.

Plan a new day – start fresh each day.

Take time with others – let them know that you haven’t given up on them.

Handle them the way you want to be handled – do unto others.

Encourage them every chance you get – people need encouragement.

Make a special effort to go the extra mile – sometimes it takes more for others.

The people we love and help the most can sometimes disappoint us and even let us down, but we can’t give up on them. They Still Need Us, and we have a responsibility to continue to Help Them!!! It’s not always easy to continue helping people that reject our help, or keep making foolish mistakes, but remember They Still Need Us!!!
